Why You Should Dump Norton or McAfee and Get NOD32

Unless you use a Macintosh or Linux computer, you would be downright crazy to venture out into the world with your computer unless it was protected by some sort of antivirus software.

Two of the most popular antivirus products are Symantec’s Norton AntiVirus and McAfee’s VirusScan. While they are popular, both are slow and bulky when compared to Eset’s NOD32.

I know you are busy, so let’s cut to the chase. The reasons for recommending NOD32 over Norton and McAfee are simple:

    1. IT’S FASTER – If you use Norton or McAfee, you know that scanning your computer for viruses can take FOREVER. NOD32 does the job faster, usually MUCH faster.

    2. IT USES LESS MEMORY – Norton and McAfee hog your computer’s resources and slow it down. NOD32 uses about 50% less memory and frees up the rest for you to use to get things done.

    3. IT FINDS MORE VIRUSES – NOD32 is the only solution worldwide that has not missed a single “In the Wild” worm or virus in the rigorous testing conducted by Virus Bulletin since May 1998. You can read more about that here.

That’s it. Let me take my 3 points above and translate them into the real benefit for you:

Use NOD32 and you will save time, money and a whole lot of frustration. Period.

You can read a complete review of NOD32 here.

Download a trial version of the product from the Eset website.

    *****WARNING*****

NOD32 protects you from viruses only. Unlike Norton and McAfee, it does not include SPAM protection or a firewall. In my opinion, these added modules slow down your computer without providing a large enough benefit to make up for the slower speed. Use the firewall included in Windows XP instead. Oh, and be careful… you can only have ONE antivirus program installed on your computer at a time. If you want to scrap your old one and move to NOD32, be sure you completely uninstall it and REBOOT your computer before installing either the paid version or the trial version of NOD32. Also, if you end up moving from the NOD32 trial to the paid version, be sure to uninstall the TRIAL and REBOOT BEFORE you install the paid version. If you don’t follow these directions, you WILL be sorry.
