What's My Password Again?
Passwords are everywhere.
You have an email password, a bank password, a password to make flight reservations, a voicemail password. Just about every system you use these days requires a different username and password.
It’s really out of control.
Usually what ends up happening is either you spend 10 minutes retrieving your forgotten username and password every time you try to login to a particular system, or you use the SAME password everywhere you go.
That’s right, for some folks, one single password unlocks the key to their entire life. Bank accounts, email, websites, all of it.
What’s a better (and safer) way to keep track of your passwords?
Software.
Here are two favorites to try. After you enter all of your passwords, you protect the whole thing with 1 Master Password. The Master Password is the ONLY one you have to remember to get access to all of the other ones.
For Windows Users:
Password Agent
Moon Software
For Mac Users:
info.xhead
XHead Software
And remember, when you are setting passwords, don’t choose simple words from the dictionary. Instead, try this quick tip:
Base your passwords on your favorite children’s song.
For example, if I were partial to the childhood hit, Old MacDonald, my next password might be “omhafeieio.”
Seems like a random string of letters, but it is really easy to remember when you sing the song back to yourself. The password is created by taking the first letter of each word.
So “Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O” turns into omhafeieio.
