You Should Be Doing Some or Most of Your Real Estate SEO Work...
When new subscribers signup to receive my e-newsletter, Prof-IT, I always ask them what their number one technology/marketing challenge is.
To date, the most popular answer is search engine optimization (SEO).
Before I talk about what SEO really is, let me tell you plainly what it is not:
SEO is NOT is voodoo or magic. It requires no potions, no hidden secrets and it doesn’t have to be a skill reserved for the few.
In fact, you can learn the skills to be fairly competent in less than a week. And you should. Because then you will be in the right place to make a smart decision for your business.
Sure, true expert SEO skills and knowledge take time and a lot of experience discovering what works and what doesn’t work. It takes a while to become an expert in anything. But you don’t need to be an expert to start having some success.
If I owned a real estate business and needed some help with SEO, here is what I would do:
1. Learn the basics myself. Like I said, you can do this in just a few days.
2. Hire an SEO/marketing firm to help you develop a strategy for you, including keyword research, a link building strategy (the right kind) and a content creation strategy.
3. Farm out the grunt work to someone inexpensive.
SEO is about following a few principles to build your site into a resource that is perceived to be valuable to your visitors and the search engines. In this case, the perception of value must match reality. Your site must be valuable to your visitors. In time, the search engines will catch up and reward you.
