Redfin, Zillow and Always Looking Ahead

In the very near future I will be moving from the booming metropolis of Chicago to a little town just a few minutes outside of Cincinnati.

One of the main reasons for the move is simply because I can. The nature of my business is such that it just doesn’t matter where I am. And so I am taking advantage of that opportunity.

The little town that I am moving to is buzzing over a new Honda plant that is going to be built in the vicinity in the next few years.

There will be about 2,000 new employees, so for a town of about 6-7,000, it’s big news.

My wife and I met with a Realtor® while we were there who told us about the new plant and how the real estate business should be picking up substantially in the near future.

That got me thinking about change, opportunity and how some people just have a hard time dealing with it.

In the world of technology and real estate, about the only thing that remains constant is the fact that everything is changing.

And there are big changes on the horizon for the real estate world. You can hear the rumblings already.

Rather than resisting it, embrace it and use it to your advantage. Get a head start on thinking about how the Zillows and Redfins of the world are slowly changing the landscape and how you can position yourself right in the middle of the opportunity they are creating.

You may like what they are doing or hate what they are doing, but that doesn’t change the reality of what they are doing. And although they may initially fail, there will be other companies to follow in their place, to carry the same vision with better execution and results.

Approaching opportunity always supplies clues. Be open to seeing them and using them to your advantage.
