Real Estate Blog = Smart Marketing
Do you blog?
I am in the middle of reading Robert Scoble’s new book “Naked Conversations – How Blogs are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers.” I always marvel at how the principles behind good books are always so simple. This one is no different.
In this case, good blogging = good communication = good business.
Let’s put that in real estate terms:
good real estate blog = good communication = good real estate business
Good (and honest) communication. That’s what it comes down to. How old is that success principle in business? It doesn’t matter because it is as important today than ever.
If you don’t know Robert Scoble, he is a “technical evangelist” who works for Microsoft and is author of the popular technology blog, “Scobleizer.”
In a February 2005 article from the Economist, the author explains that Scoble’s blogging and non traditional PR methods have made Microsoft appear “noticeably less evil to the outside world.”
If one lone blogger can do this for a multibillion dollar company, imagine what a real estate blog can do for your real estate business – if you use it well.
How do you blog? What do you blog? How much do you blog? I won’t take the space to explain it here. That’s for another day and future blog posts.
The back of the book jacket sums it up pretty well though:
Whatever happened to honesty in business? That’s what your clients and customers are asking, even if your company’s integrity is above reproach. Because, for decades, corporations have talked at their customers and called it communication. Now comes the blog – and an opportunity for your company to talk with customers and let them talk back.
As the yellow book jacket says, “Can you afford not to blog?”
I think the answer is “no.”
Get the book.
